Reform’s John Bell has resigned as parish councillor for Mabe in Cornwall and quit Farage’s far-right party. Explaining his decision, Bell stated that he “cannot in good conscience” support the recently announced ‘Making Welfare Work’ policy. Joining resounding criticism of the harmful policy, Bell says that Reform’s changes to welfare and Personal Independence Payments (PIP) will “cost lives of people, especially those who have suicidal ideation”. Lisa Nandy has announced that she and her government department for culture, media and sport are leaving the social media platform X as it: favours abuse and misinformation over meaningful debate. It isn’t healthy for our democracy or our communities and I don’t want to support it.
