Sangita Myska was surveilled by lawyers during LBC sacking row

In her first in-depth interview since being dismissed from LBC, Sangita Myska revealed the extraordinary legal machinery deployed against her.

“I was told I was surplus to requirements,” Myska told Double Down News‘ Richard Sanders.

She said:

What happened to me was I did an interview with an Israeli spokesperson, and within 48 hours I was told I was no longer on air.

In April 2024, Myska was removed from her hosting role at LBC, just 48 hours after a tense interview with an Israeli government spokesman.

Sangita Myska has been gagged for life

Myska told Sanders that her employment contract with LBC contained two clauses that last in perpetuity β€” a confidentiality agreement and a non-disparagement agreement. Therefore, she is barred for life from discussing what happened.

She said:

The terms of that disparagement clause are so wide that almost anything I say can be interpreted as disparaging Global and LBC.

Lawyers monitored Sangita Myska’s social media

Perhaps the most disturbing revelation came when Myska disclosed that lawyers for Global, LBC’s parent company, had been surveilling her every move online.

Solicitors acting for the media giant had been monitoring Myska’s social media activity, compiling evidence of her engaging with supportive tweets from listeners.

‘Institutional cowardice’

Myska also spoke of the “institutional cowardice” in British media. High-profile journalists who consider themselves “liberal” and “left-leaning” totally blanked her.

While she did not name any colleagues, Sanders, in his opening statement of the interview, named James O’Brien and a clip of him.

O’Brien had gone on air and sneered at a listener who questioned Myska’s removal, calling their criticisms “antisemitic conspiracy theories”. He seemingly accused Myska of allowing “lies to be perpetuated” about her departure.

Myska had publicly responded to O’Brien at that time (last year). reminding him that she cannot discuss circumstances around her departure.

Cancel culture

Sharing the video on his socials, Sanders said:

The real cancel culture in Britain is around Palestine.

Sanders is right. Myska’s crime was reporting the truth.

As she said in her interview with Sanders:

The view you and I take and others take is: genocide is genocide. It’s not an issue. It’s a crime. And it’s a monstrous crime.
