Fascist grifter Tommy Robinson ‘debated’ to a near-empty room in the Oxford Union (OU) on Wednesday night after a picket by anti-fascist protesters deterred most from attending. Robinson was supported in the debate by fellow extremist Laurence Fox and by OU committee member Oliver Jones-Lyons – and lost resoundingly anyway. Robinson misquoted the Quran in his tirade, including falsely claiming that it demands the execution of LGBTQ people.
As the Canary’s Antifabot reported, Oxford wasn’t having it:
Younger, more intensive groups barricaded every single entrance to the building. And instead of policing these more confrontational tactics, SUTR activists offered total solidarity. These two very different camps of activists melted into a stunningly cohesive unit where every single person had their own place. No one was left behind.
Tommy Robinson grift falls flat (again)
The racist topic of the motion was “This House believes the West is right to be suspicious of Islam”. Palestinian student Aisha Khan was Robinson’s main opponent, supported by fitness trainer Michael Dowards.
The final vote was 57-41 against Tommy Robinson’s motion. Muslim news site 5Pillars covered the protest:
