As the climate crisis made itself all too evident across the UK with searingly high temperatures, climate activists occupied the lobby of the UK headquarters of Federated Hermes. They called on the company to stop funding the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP). This is a massive ‘carbon bomb’ expected to generate 379 million tonnes of CO2 in its lifetime. The activists from Cut The Ties to Fossil Fuels entered the lobby of Federated Hermes handing out leaflets to staff and displaying banners saying “EACOP is a Carbon Bomb”. Outside they painted windows with the slogan “DROP EACOP” and stuck oily…

Pressure is mounting on Scotland’s nature agency after it confirmed a new licence application has been received for the guga hunt this year. The guga hunt involves the annual killing of gannet seabird chicks in the Outer Hebrides. Now the controversial practice is once again under consideration for 2026 after an application was submitted by the 10-man hunting team based in Ness on the Isle of Lewis. The hunt, which takes place on the remote island of Sula Sgeir, has been carried out for centuries and was once used for food during harsh winters. However, campaigners argue that young gannet flesh…

Campaigners from Fossil Free London staged a protest outside a supermarket in Hackney on Sunday 24 May, to draw attention to the rising cost of living in contrast with fossil fuel corporations’ soaring profits. The stunt involved two trolleys. One, pushed by a campaigner dressed as an oil executive, was filled with sacks of money. The other was filled with placards shaped like common food items. Each placard displayed the item’s current cost and the amount it has risen by. For example: “Orange juice, £1.79, up 130%”. Behind them, a banner read: “Shell profits. We pay the price”. The protest comes…

Teaching assistants, residential workers, and other support staff at Ash Field Academy, a Leicester SEND school, completed their third day of strike action on Thursday 14 May. They’re demanding that Discovery Schools Academy Trust (DSAT), which runs the school, reinstates their trade union rep, Tom Barker. DSAT suspended Barker from Ash Field on 30 October 2025. This was just four working days after the closure of a ballot in which UNISON members voted for strike action over staffing cuts. DSAT linked the suspension to unspecified conduct concerns. Almost seven months on, DSAT has still produced no evidence to support any allegations…

After 10 years of bringing you truth without agenda online, the Canary has now done what no left-wing media outlet has done in decades: launch a daily print newspaper. It is set to challenge every mainstream media outlet. Plus, it will bring the Canary’s no-nonsense news that disrupts power to a wider audience. And, you just know the MSM and establishment are going to hate it, too. But why the hell would we do this at a time when fewer and fewer people are actually buying newspapers? Meet the Canary (again) If you don’t know the Canary, we launched in October…

Trade unions have offered a guarded welcome to the government’s ‘Summer Savings’ plans. These include several measures which aim to ease summer holiday expense for families with children. Labour affiliated transport union TSSA has welcomed as an ‘important first step’ the government’s introduction of free bus travel for under-16s in England across August. This was part a series of measures that chancellor Rachel Reeves outlined, called ‘Great British Summer Savings’. It also includes a temporary reduction in VAT across Scotland, England and Wales from June to September. The reduction applies to admission tickets for family shows and attractions and children’s menu…

A petition demanding a public inquiry into pro-Israel influence on UK politics and democracy will be debated in Parliament on 22 June 2026, according to an update published on the Petitions Committee’s page on 21 May 2026. The petition reads: We feel that the horrific devastation in Gaza, the ongoing suppression of Palestinians in the West Bank, and the UK’s political response underline the urgent need to scrutinise how pro-Israel organisations, networks, and lobbying efforts may shape government decisions, party policy, and public debate. The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) and War on Want have issued letters to 15 Premier League clubs. They’re raising concerns about the clubs’ complicity in Israeli atrocities via their ties to companies linked to Israel’s genocide in Gaza and apartheid across the Occupied Palestinian Territories. These findings come from War on Want’s latest report: Red Card: English Premier League Sportswashing of Israel’s Atrocities against the Palestinians. ICJP has also supported the report. The report details the connections of at least 15 Premier League club sponsors to Israel’s devastating military assault and blockade on Gaza, construction of illegal settlements,…

Tory-Reform turncoat, MP Suella Braverman, is angry that Brits are leaving Britain. Falling immigration has not yet filled the void that exists in place of her soul. “The brightest and the best are leaving the UK,” Suella Braverman wrote in response to a Telegraph report featuring immigration stats from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). She noted that the position was untenable. The Telegraph reported that in 2025, 75,000 more Britons aged 16–34 left the UK — the highest number on record since the ONS changed its methodology in 2021. The brightest and the best are leaving the UK. This can’t…
