Labour’s meek response to anti-nuclear weapons conference torn apart by experts

The response by the UK Labour Government to the failure of a United Nations (UN) nuclear non-proliferation conference to reach a consensus has been criticised by a wide range of UK and international experts and campaigners. The government had sent a minister to speak at the UN in New York at the start of the 11th Review Conference of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which took place from 27 April to 22 May 2026.
