Jason Arday was hunted down by a pack of rabid predators, relentlessly bullying and racially attacking him. Now he’s dead. His devastated family are left with nowhere to turn. No justice, no accountability. Just a laughable “self-regulator”, run by the very same billionaire bosses who released the wolves. It’s a disgrace. It’s rigged. And it’s time we stopped letting these billionaire media moguls get away with murder.
Public backs new press regulator by a landslide
Forget the noise. The people have spoken, and they are screaming for change.
A new YouGov poll says 72% of Britons want an independent regulator with teeth, compulsory membership, and no opt-outs.
Only 8% say no:
And here is the kicker that should keep the billionaire media owners awake at night. This isn’t just a left-wing cry. It’s a national revolt:
70% of Reform voters back it. 78% of Green supporters are on board. From left to right, the message is clear: the press has lost its license to operate unchecked.
The public doesn’t want another box-ticking exercise run by billionaires. They want accountability. They want justice. And they are ready to vote for it.
Governments cave to billionaire media bullying
They blinked. Every time.
Tory and Labour governments alike knelt before the billionaire media moguls, blocking the Leveson recommendation for mandatory membership of an independent regulator.
Why?
Because they were scared. Scared of losing their oxygen in a press owned by men who treat democracy like a toy to be broken.
But that era is over.
The Media Sovereignty Act is coming, and it’s not asking nicely.
It mandates an independent regulator with real power to oversee our national press. No more cosy deals. No more backroom capitulations. Just one simple goal: ending the billionaire capture of our democracy once and for all.
Regulator would stop billionaire media bullying
Campaign leaders have demanded an independent regulator to end press abuse.
Donnachadh McCarthy, Director of the Media Sovereignty Act Campaign, said:
Tragically bereaved families like the Ardays must never again be left facing such a horrific situation without recourse. An independent regulator would curb these rabid character assassinations on vulnerable individuals, with no means to defend themselves.
Co-Director Caspar Hughes added that Jason Arday’s family described “a campaign of sustained abuse” as “too much for Jason”:
The Media Sovereignty Act must be adopted now to protect people from press abuse; the law must change.
Parliament must act swiftly to prevent further tragedies caused by unchecked journalistic excess.
Sign the petition to break the billionaire grip on our democracy
The Media Sovereignty Act Campaign is asking people to sign their petition to trigger Parliament to debate independent press regulation and wrest control back from the billionaire media moguls who have captured our democracy.
With 25,000 signatures already secured, just 75,000 more will trigger a mandatory Parliamentary debate on ending foreign and domestic billionaire capture of the press. You can sign the petition here.
