Musician Ali Louis Bourzgui won a Tony award last night, 7 June, for his portrayal of a vampire in the musical adaptation of The Lost Boys. As he received his award, he compared Zionists and billionaires to the vampires of the show – people “who have shunned their own humanity in order to achieve a nonexistent sense of superiority”. And in case anyone was still unclear what he meant, he used his speech to wish freedom to the Palestinian people from occupation, as well as to praise the immigrants and trans people constantly targeted by the US fascist regime: https://www.thecanary.co/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/bourzgui-tony-1.mp4 Tony award…

Iran strikes Israel after Israel bomb’s Beirut’s Dahiyeh to kill peace talks

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:9 June 2026

Iran has launched at least two and as many as five (so far) waves of drones and at least ten ballistic missiles against Israel. The strikes, described by Tehran as a “warning shot”, came in retaliation for Israel attacking Dahiyeh in southern Beirut. Iran had warned Israel that it would strike its north if Netanyahu launched attacks on Dahiyeh. Israel claimed to have shot down all the incoming barrage, but even UK state-corporate media have reported numerous successful strikes. The attack was the first direct Iranian retaliation against Israel in two months. Local footage also appears to show missiles reaching targets:…

Italian journalist Gabriele Nunziati is suing his former employer Agenzia Nova. Nunziati was sacked by the news agency in 2025 after asking a European Commission (EC) spokesman whether Israel should pay to rebuild Gaza, just as the EC insists Russia should rebuild Ukraine. The sacking came after an alleged call from the EC to Nova complaining about Nunziati’s question. The first hearing will take place on 9 June 2026. Amnesty International Italia is supporting the case and Nunziati’s press union, Stampa Romana, is funding it. “Sector-wide mobilisation” In a video announcement about his case, Nunziati said that many of his colleagues…

Knuckle-dragging ‘loyalist’ Israel supporters have gathered in Scarva, County Down, to disgrace themselves by flinging sectarian abuse at the Great March for Gaza. The humanitarian march, organised by the Irish Palestine Solidarity Campaign, set off from Lurgan, ten miles away, this morning. After Scarva, marchers walked a further almost twenty miles to Omeath in solidarity with the Palestinian people against Israel’s genocide and occupation: The thugs were caught on camera by the defiant marchers as they passed: View this post on Instagram A post shared by BDS Belfast (@bdsbelfast) Great march for Gaza vs “provocative behaviour” The march is raising funds…

Far-right ‘Advance’ implodes in war between leader and COO

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:9 June 2026

The proto-fascist ‘Advance UK’ party appears to be imploding after warring emails from the group’s leader and chief operating officer (COO) to members. The war has been triggered by party leader Ben Habib’s plan to de-register the party. COO Tim Power wrote to members denouncing Habib’s attempt to disband Advance and merge it into far-right umbrella group GBPAC (Great British Political Action Committee). Habib has said that the UK extreme right field is too “crowded” because of Nigel Farage’s Reform UK and Rupert Lowe’s Restore Britain. But Power told members he had stepped in and cancelled a member ballot about the…

The complaint comes in advance of a hearing on Monday 8 June on an application by the defendants for Jeremy Johnson’s removal from the case. The owner of Polish football club Pogoń Szczecin has refused to discuss the sale of players to Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv. Alex Haditaghi went further, comparing the idea of doing business with the club to trading with nazi Germany. In a post on X, Haditaghi said he had told the Israeli club he would not be talking to them about potential transfers for defenders Dmitri Keramitsis and Leo Borges. He said that football should represent “hope, respect, unity and humanity” and that: money, business, and opportunity must come second to conscience. Haditaghi made clear that he was referring to Israel’s…

  • Post author:

Your Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has told the Canary that the Filton 24 activists convicted of criminal damage must not be sentenced as terrorists. The Starmer regime insisted on retrying six activists. The jury had refused at the first trial to convict them on any of the state’s charges relating to damage to an Israeli-owned weapons factory, after police and security guards’ claims didn’t match CCTV evidence. At the retrial, security service-linked judge Jeremy Johnson banned any mention of the fact that the activists carried out their action to prevent the slaughter of Palestinian civilians. He also banned even the media…

Jewish anti-genocide activist Greenstein suffers second ‘de-banking’ attack

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:9 June 2026

Brighton-based Tony Greenstein is one of the best-known of the UK’s many Jewish anti-genocide activists. As a result, he is one of the most targeted by the Israel lobby’s attacks and smears – including by the UK government. And he has again been hit with one of the most insidious forms of financial attack: de-banking. ‘De-banking’ is a financial state and establishment terror weapon. It involves the summary closure of bank accounts, often under orders or pressure from government or influential groups. This is frequently used as a weapon to financially disable those who stand up for the Palestinian people against…

‘Non-working’ royals raking in cash and living rent-free in palaces – including Andrew

  • Post author:

An audit by the National Audit Office (NAO) has revealed the disgraced former prince Andrew and his kids are making cash and/or living rent-free in palaces, despite performing no official duties. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his titles over the Epstein scandal. He has also been exposed engaging in dodgy dealings as UK trade envoy role his mother pushed for him to receive. His brother Charles paid out millions to settle the lawsuit brought against Andrew by the late Virginia Giuffre. But Andrew has continued receiving rental payments on the Royal Lodge estate he received rent-free from the Crown. The amounts…

Sánchez must act against Spanish police after brutal attack on pensioner protester

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:9 June 2026

Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez has a solid record of resistance to Israel’s genocide in Gaza. But he must now show emphatic action against Spanish police after another brutal attack on peaceful protesters. In late May, police in Bilbao launched a vicious and unprovoked attack on volunteers of a humanitarian flotilla as they returned from abduction by Israel as they tried to reach Gaza. Now, as teachers were peacefully protesting in Valencia for public education and better pay, a 68-year-old retired teacher was cold-bloodedly shoved over from behind without warning. The 31 May 2026 attack slammed the woman’s face into the road…

Breaking: Swiss court shames UK by refusing to criminalise anti-genocide protest

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:9 June 2026

A court in Geneva has confirmed that peaceful opposition to Israel’s genocide in Gaza is a legitimate right. As Palestinian exile Muzna Shihabi notes, the landmark decision:  Acknowledges that a genocide is underway.  Rules that nothing justifies sanctioning peaceful activists.  Confirms that freedom of expression protects non-violent civil disobedience and that repressing these mobilizations is incompatible with democracy. A lesson for the genocide-enabling Starmer government and its war on free speech and peaceful protest, as respondents are already noting: @Keir_Starmer @YvetteCooperMP Imagine how it must feel to finish your day in the knowledge that your actions let you sleep with a…

Israel is still burning families in Gaza

While the world’s attention has moved onto other horrors, Israel continues to bomb Gaza and burn families. The so-called ‘ceasefire’ is just a curtain to hide its atrocities. Starmeroid would-be leader Darren Jones cosied up to Mandelson

  • Post author:

Bristol Labour MP Darren Jones is a Starmer clone, heavily funded by discredited sabotage group ‘Labour Together.’ Jones, currently Keir Starmer’s ‘chief secretary,’ reportedly hopes to replace his boss. But he has now been exposed as no better than his current party leader on the disgraced Peter Mandelson. Mandelson was finally sacked as UK ambassador to the US in late 2025 over his closeness to Israeli spy and serial child rapist Jeffrey Epstein. He has since been shown to have repeatedly sent lucrative confidential ‘insider trading’ information to Epstein. Mandelson’s disgrace has brought Starmer to the brink of downfall. Jones had…

Fogarty to political activist denied UK visa: ‘Nobody thinks you can’t criticise Israel’

  • Post author:

US anti-genocide journalist Cenk Uygur was interviewed on LBC with Shelagh Fogarty this week. The Starmer regime had just cancelled the UK visas of Uygur and fellow commentator Hasan Piker. Yet Fogarty was determined to ignore the obvious and was seemingly oblivious to how that would backfire. So she told Uygur blithely: “Nobody in this country thinks you can’t criticise Israel”. Yes, she actually said that out loud. Fogarty ignores Uygur’s ban for opposing barbarism Uygur’s response was immediate: “Well I just got banned for it”. The clip was promptly posted by Green party candidate, Mark Adderley, who knows a thing…

Israel-bought politicians don’t care what a hate march actually is

Israel lobbyists — and UK politicians who take donations from Israel lobbyists — characterise protests against Israel’s genocide as ‘hate’. It’s a bare-faced lie. But the far-right is full of hate yet many MPs refuse to say so. The ‘protest’ (riots) in Southampton on Tuesday, egged on by fascists Nigel Farage and Tommy Robinson, put it beyond doubt.
