The UK Government is refusing to publish any information it holds on a shadowy Israeli firm caught meddling in Scottish parliamentary elections. It cites a dubious Freedom of Information (FOI) exemption which allows documents to be withheld if they would supposedly prejudice relations between the United Kingdom and any other state. Undercover Policing Inquiry reveals BAE Systems offered money to Special Branch to spy on anti arms trade campaigners

Evidence in the Undercover Policing Inquiry recently revealed that BAE Systems, the UK’s largest arms company, offered the Metropolitan police money to spy on anti arms trade campaigners. This followed the 1996 Seeds of Hope Ploughshares action which caused £1.4m worth of damage to Hawk aircraft. Four women were acquitted of criminal damage charges on the basis they were preventing a greater crime by taking action to stop BAE Systems exporting the aircraft to Indonesia for use in war crimes against people in East Timor. Kill chain: British Army tests new Anduril battlefield spy drones

The British Army has field tested a range of new AI drone equipment. The military wants to shorten so-called ‘kill chains’ using technology from AI war firm Anduril among others. An entire infantry unit was re-purposed to train in drone warfare. The regiment did so on UK terrain chosen to “closely resemble the heavily forested landscape of Finland”. US spy agency using Anthropic AI tech for cyberwar against China and Iran

The US National Security Agency (NSA) is allegedly using Anthropic software to wage cyberwar against Iran and China. The AI war firm is currently locked in a legal battle with the Trump administration to stop certain military uses. Anthropic bosses previously complained when their tech was used in the 3 January Venezuela raid. The NSA is the US equivalent of the UK’s Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ). Its remit includes surveillance and cyberwarfare.
