Never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence. In Belfast, Home Office incompetence is threatening Nina Briggs, head of the Migrant Workers’ Union Northern Ireland, with deportation. They insist that Briggs’ active appeal against the unfair Home Office decision does not exist. That is despite an immigration tribunal confirming the department submitted documents in her case in December 2025. Briggs has spent the last 14 years living in Britain or the North of Ireland. Born in the US, she came to Britain to study at St Andrews University in Scotland back in 2012, at age 16. She subsequently entered…

Brighton-based Tony Greenstein is one of the best-known of the UK’s many Jewish anti-genocide activists. As a result, he is one of the most targeted by the Israel lobby’s attacks and smears – including by the UK government. And he has again been hit with one of the most insidious forms of financial attack: de-banking. ‘De-banking’ is a financial state and establishment terror weapon. It involves the summary closure of bank accounts, often under orders or pressure from government or influential groups. This is frequently used as a weapon to financially disable those who stand up for the Palestinian people against…

US anti-genocide journalist Cenk Uygur was interviewed on LBC with Shelagh Fogarty this week. The Starmer regime had just cancelled the UK visas of Uygur and fellow commentator Hasan Piker. Yet Fogarty was determined to ignore the obvious and was seemingly oblivious to how that would backfire. So she told Uygur blithely: “Nobody in this country thinks you can’t criticise Israel”. Yes, she actually said that out loud. Fogarty ignores Uygur’s ban for opposing barbarism Uygur’s response was immediate: “Well I just got banned for it”. The clip was promptly posted by Green party candidate, Mark Adderley, who knows a thing…

Global Sumud Flotilla activists are returning home. Many suffered IOF torture, beatings and sexual violence. The Canary spoke with British flotilla activist, Alice Chapman, who was abducted by Zionist Navy forces. I joined the flotilla in Sicily, in Augusta, and from there we were sailing for about four days before we were intercepted — I think on night five. We were still in international waters, fairly close to Greek waters. We’d had a warning that day. At that same geographic point, the previous flotilla in September had encountered boats carrying explosives. From Barcelona to Italy, there’d been a lot of surveillance drones…

“They have no soul but we’re stronger” – flotilla activist on Israel’s rape and violence

Australian anti-genocide activist Juliet Lamont has spoken of the horrors she and other volunteer flotilla crew members suffered after their abduction by Israel in international waters. The Global Sumud Flotilla ships were trying to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians under Israel’s illegal starvation blockade. Deported crew members show signs of torture and report numerous rapes and the deliberate breaking of bones. Israeli fascist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir himself posted video of the volunteers being beaten and humiliated. But after her own deportation, Lamont gave more detail on what was perpetrated on her and others. It’s truly horrific – but she and her…
