On 14 July, the Centre for Media Monitoring (CfMM) published a shocking – but sadly unsurprising – report into the stark Islamophobia on display at the Spectator, the UK’s oldest political magazine. The CfMM is an independent non-profit organisation which monitors the representation of Islam in the mainstream media. For its latest report, entitled ‘No Mere Spectator’, it presented comprehensive qualitative and quantitative analysis: of 3,733 articles published by The Spectator between January 2018 and December 2025 relating to Islam, Muslims, Muslim communities, Muslim-majority countries, or issues in which Muslims were a central subject of discussion. New report details long-standing systematic failures in Nottingham’s maternity care

On 24 June, independent senior midwife Donna Ockenden published her long-awaited review of failures in maternity care under Nottingham university hospitals (NUH) NHS trust. The report identified: long-standing and deeply embedded systemic failures across multiple areas of maternity and neonatal care. Then-health secretary Sajid Javid first commissioned the review after eight families came forward with accounts of the harm and loss they suffered. UK election interference: new details of BlackCore Israeli influence operation emerge

An Israeli influence operation named BlackCore allegedly sought to undermine left-wing politicians and shape elections in the UK and US. The Canary previously reported on a joint French/Israeli media investigation into the shadowy outfit. BlackCore is also accused of setting up a bogus Palestine charity. Details of Israeli military ‘psy-op’ training courses have leaked

Israel might be training hundreds of participants in the dark arts of ‘offensive’ influence operations and propaganda each year. A military leak exposed details of how the settler-colonial state seeks to shape public consciousness. And some material is specifically for English speakers.
