Five Just Stop Oil supporters who have served prison sentences of up to 15 months for planning an action at Heathrow airport that never took place have had their convictions upheld by the Court of Appeal. Rosa Hicks, Adam Beard, Sean O’Callaghan, Sally Davidson and Hannah Schafer were among eight Just Stop Oil supporters convicted of conspiracy to cause a public nuisance after standing trial before Judge Duncan at Isleworth Crown Court in March 2025. In a new BBC documentary, Boris Johnson revealed that David Cameron offered him a “top five job” during a tennis match to secure his support for remaining in the EU. Cameron, PM at the time, apparently wanted Boris to know that he: valued his contribution, that he would be a major party of the government going forward. Nearly half of parents are struggling to afford food for their children more now than five years ago

New research warns that family hardship has deepened despite years of post-pandemic support measures, worsening child food hunger. The survey of 2,500 UK parents, which Opinium carried out for the Social Market Foundation, found that nearly half (44%) were struggling more today to afford food than five years ago. In addition, 1 in 5 (21%) parents reported their children regularly experiencing some form of food insecurity. This included being unable to access balanced meals, or relying heavily on cheap foods.
