The pace of settlement advancement in the occupied West Bank is unprecedented. Bezalel Smotrich – finance minister and illegal settler – has long opposed the creation of a Palestinian state. He has now not only called for the complete conquest of the Gaza Strip, but is also promising a settlement “revolution”. Expansion of settlements will further tighten the occupation’s control The occupation is actively advancing major settlement and infrastructure projects across the occupied Palestinian territory. According to Peace Now, most of these new settlements are deep inside the West Bank, where there is very little or no Israeli occupation presence. This…

A settlement scheme has been launched. It aims to establish a settler presence at around 100 strategic locations in Area A of the occupied West Bank. According to the Oslo Accords — which divide the West Bank into areas A, B and C — this area is under the full control of the Palestinian Authority. It has, until now, been considered the safest area for Palestinians. Israeli settler groups have prepared a plan to seize 100 strategic locations in the Palestinian Authority-administered Area A of the occupied West Bank, according to a media report. The Israel Hayom newspaper reported that the…

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:30 June 2026

In the village of Sinjil, in the occupied West Bank, a combination of land designations, new barriers and expanding nearby settlements is reshaping the landscape and the lives of the people who depend on it. Israeli occupation authorities have recently seized 465 dunums of land belonging to Sinjil, which is north of Ramallah. The land — equivalent to around 115 acres, or 70 football pitches — has been designated as “state land”. It is the area on which the illegal outpost of Givat Haroeh, now known as Karmei Oz, was established in 1998. While the built-up area of the outpost covers…

Israeli elites from the Zionist state’s security, political and cultural scenes have issued a letter to Netanyahu and his government threatening legal action, citing the impunity given to “Jewish terrorism” and the “ideology of ethnic cleansing” in the occupied West Bank. Amongst the Israelis who appear to have hit the end of their tether with the settler-colonial government are former prime ministers, former heads of all the state’s security services, former judges, a Nobel prize winner and a famous novelist. Issuing a “final warning”, they have insisted that Netanyahu and his genocidal officials take immediate action to “eradicate Jewish terrorism”. They…

The town of Deir Dibwan, east of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, has long suffered from settler attacks. And since 7 October 2023, these have been occurring on a weekly or sometimes even daily basis. Settlers attempt to burn Palestinian worshippers alive at the mosque Around 8pm on 14 June, a group of around 40 to 50 illegal settlers  set fires in several areas of Deir Dibwan. When they entered the Al-Marah area, near the western entrance, they set alight residents’ vehicles. Flames engulfed parked cars and spread to nearby roadside areas, and across large areas of agricultural land. Two…

Despite denials from organisers, evidence gathered inside the event shows occupied Palestinian land was being marketed Properties from seven illegal settlements were advertised at the Great Israeli Real Estate Event on Sunday in London, days after more than 100 MPs and groups urged the UK government to ban it. Organisers had told journalists last week that all exhibitors at the event “without exception” would only provide information about properties for sale within the Green Line – the internationally recognised border between Israel and Palestine. But brochures circulated at the event which Jewish Anti-Zionist Action (JAZA) shared with Declassified and others posted…

Human rights NGO Amnesty International says Israel is erasing everything Palestinian from the West Bank. The group warned that it is the Israeli state leading the ethnic cleansing — not rogue settlers. Israeli violence in the West Bank has accelerated alongside the Gaza genocide. The occupied West Bank village of al Mughayyir has again been under attack by the army and the settlers. Non-stop intimidation and harassment from settlers and soldiers Early in the morning of 20 May, the occupation army blocked the entrance, preventing any movement in and out of the village. https://www.thecanary.co/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/WhatsApp-Video-2026-05-22-at-23.14.56.mp4 It then attacked the boys’ school with tear gas, which led to several injuries and cases of suffocation among students.
