In the early hours of 25 June, young trans activists from Trans Kids Deserve Better made their way to the top of Havering Town Hall. Their mission was to hang the Progress Pride flag and two Transgender flags from the Town Hall flagpoles. They also put up a banner, reading, β€œYOU CAN’T KILL PRIDE – XOXO TKDB”. This was a response to Keith Prince, Reform UK head of Havering Council, cancelling the raising of the Pride Flag at Havering Town Hall during Pride Month. Havering Town Hall has flown a Pride flag every Pride Month for nearly a decade. Under their…

Why kids need (and hate) social media

Earlier this month, the UK parliament passed a law targeting children and teenagers’ social media use instead of the true root of the issue. The social media ban for under 16s is not just another example of our government virtue signaling in an attempt to save face. It is also an example of its inability to address the fundamental flaws in the society it is forcing the next generation of young people to grow up in. Social media ban: Why teens hate (and support) it The social media ban, which will come into force in early 2027, is modelled off the…

Campaigners warn Starmer’s social media ban will harm disabled kids

Charities and campaigners have warned that Keir Starmer’s plan to ban under-16s from social media will isolate disabled and LGBTQ+ children. This week,Β Labour prime minister announced new legislation to stop children from accessing apps like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok, X and YouTube. The ban will take effect in Spring 2027 and restrict livestreams and ‘stranger communication’ for children, including on gaming sites. The ban won’t help any kids There are already concerns that, without regulating the tech companies, this will do very little to protect children from the dangers of the internet and punish them instead. PM Keir Starmer has announced a social media ban for under-16s which will prevent access to apps like Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and X. Bosnians know about suffering genocide. It’s why they stood with the Palestinians against Israel before Bosnia’s first World Cup 2026 match. And, also ahead of Bosnia’s opening game against Canada, Bosnian football legend Edin DΕΎeko wrote a letter to Bosnian children about it. DΕΎeko wanted to talk to them about what it was like to survive genocide β€” and how its terrors are still seen now. He wrote: In the end, we survived. Looking back, I’m amazed at how strong we were. We were just little kids. But there was no point to the war. All those innocent people killed, and…

DWP Milburn Report is another excuse to throw disabled kids under the bus

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) released the interim report for the Milburn Review on Youth Unemployment yesterday. The report was an exercise in how the DWP has a compliant corporate media at its beck and call. But as always, we need to look at the parts of the report the DWP didn’t want shouted from the rooftops. Corporate shills marching to the DWP’s beat The corporate media, of course, had a field day yesterday getting to crow about the ‘lost generation’, especially those with mental health conditions. At one point, both the BBC and Guardian were running live rolling…
