Domestic abuse β€” The National Crime Agency (NCA) has revealed that they have been investigating a “truly international network” of organised sexual abuse and assault in which drugs are used to sedate unwitting victims “often taking place over decades”. Helen Millichap, director of the National Centre for Violence Against Women and Girls and Public Protection, told the GuardianΒ these crimes are: rooted in domestic abuse, controlling and coercive behaviour and sexual offending. Adding that, whilst they are not a ‘new’ offence: the evolving profile reveals how the online and connected nature of the abuse is occurring, the dimensions are changing and therefore…

Lush is no stranger to standing up for what’s right. And now, it has launched a new product to highlight the dangers of the “constitutional crisis taking place in our courts”. The company will donate “75% of the sale price (minus tax)” to Defend Our Juries, which it says has been working hard: defending our right to protest and to a fair trial. Defend Our Juries has been a vocal organiser against the Labour government’s highly controversial ban of Palestine Action. As Lush states on the web page for its new product: Defend Our Juries is a movement of people dedicated…

Keir Starmer’s new ban on under-16s using social media β€” just as with the supposed ‘Online Safety Act’ (OSA) β€” does nothing to protect children. In fact, it will harm many and put others at risk as they try dangerous routes to bypass the ban. Furthermore, it will have an enormous chilling effect on meaningful journalism. It will also chill resistance to the authoritarian state he is building for fascist Reform to inherit. Starmer wages war on journalism How does the ban wage war on journalism? Because it is designed to make anonymity impossible and works hand in hand with Starmer’s…

Hezbollah and Iran remain unbowed despite US-Israeli assault

The US-Israeli imperial war machine has been hitting Iran and Hezbollah for months. That machine is a vastly superior killing implementΒ  – on paper, at least. Yet the so-called ‘axis of resistance’ is still alive and kicking as a potential Pakistan-brokered peace deal edges closer. This all speaks to US decline, but it also outlines a deep Western misunderstanding of how the opposition functions. Faced with a US-provisioned force with a full suite of air-power, artillery, drones and cyber, Hezbollah killed 15 Israelis overnight, reports say: NEW: The US and Israel say that Hezbollah killed 15 Israeli soldiers overnight, which prompted…
