Greater Manchester Green mayoral candidate Geraldine Coggins has announced that she would join Green-led London councils in Lambeth and Lewisham in commissioning a review of policing in immigration raids. Coggins announced the plans at a cost-of-living themed hustings organised by GM Coalition of Disabled People, Acorn Tenants Union, GM Living Income Campaign, and GM Immigration Aid Unit. As mayor, she would also be the Police and Crime Commissioner for the city-region. (Her full manifesto is here.) Lewisham became the first council to pass a motion pledging not to use council resources or public money to assist with any raids “where legally…

Green mayoral candidate says wildfires require AI data centre rethink

  • Post author:

The rapid expansion of generative AI technology has been tremendously worrying for many. There are good reasons for this too, whether it be the threat to jobs, the environmental impact of data centres, or the fact that AI barons keep suggesting their technology may one day kill us all. In response to this, the Greens’ Greater Manchester mayor candidate Geraldine Coggins is calling for “an end to the folly of rushing headlong into AI development without public debate and environmental protections”. Environmental impacts Coggins said: The world is on fire. A quarter of a million people have been evacuated from the paths…

Reform’s Manchester mayor candidate is a landlord, because of course

Reform UK has announced its candidate for the Greater Manchester Mayor race: Reform UK is delighted to announce Sian Astley as our candidate for Mayor of Greater Manchester. Sian has pledged to scrutinise contracts previously awarded by Andy Burnham to firms during his time as Mayor. Greater Manchester is broken. Only Reform will fix it. pic.twitter.com/WGeV1rr9m8 — Reform UK (@reformparty_uk) June 29, 2026 As a woman, Astley won’t have the same problems as the party’s Makerfield candidate – the self-described ‘sexist’ Rob Kenyon. She has another big weakness, though, and it’s that she’s a landlord. Reform don’t care about renters rights Sian Astley is one…

Another Reform candidate exposed for grim social posts

Once again, a Reform candidate’s social media history has exposed the party‘s lax vetting procedures. The candidate in question is Andy Curwen, the National revealed. Gordon Highlanders veteran Curwen is running in the Peterhead South and Cruden by-election which will take place on 2 July. Reform UK candidate blasted for misogynistic Instagram postshttps://t.co/abuets3LRp — Reform Party UK Exposed (@reformexposed) June 23, 2026 Curwen’s posts also include this blatantly racist meme from 2021. There’s also this which reads: “Women can argue for 3 straight hours but 2 minutes into a BJ and her jaw hurts”. A ‘BJ’ is a sexual act. The…

Restore Britain candidate helped lead biased grooming gangs inquiry

The leader of Restore Britain has announced its candidate for the Greater Manchester mayoral elections: Marlon West, whose daughter is a victim of group-based child sexual exploitation. However, CSE survivor, Femi Mohammed, says West is one of the people who deliberately excluded her from Lowe’s intensely biased ‘Rape Gang Inquiry Report’. The goal? To reinforce the misinformation that only Pakistani Muslim men prey on white British girls. Restore Britain: Who is Marlon West? On 22 June, Rupert Lowe posted that he was “delighted” about the announcement. West is one of the most prominent campaigners against the rape gangs in the country…

Makerfield ‘Count Binface’ candidate delivers a slam dunk over Farage

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:21 June 2026

Political candidate Jonathan Harvey — also known as ‘Count Binface’ — stood in the Makerfield by-election for comedy value rather than in hope of winning. But even a comedy candidate has more political honesty than racist Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. Notably, the peculiar atmosphere of Makerfield displayed just how easily humour can inform local politics. Quizzed by Sky News about his candidacy and whether he lived in the constituency, Harvey promised he would move there if he won, and reminding viewers that Farage “spends more time in America than in Clacton.” Farage is notionally the MP for Clacton in Essex,…

Reform MP allegedly called Kenyon a ‘sh*t candidate’

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:14 June 2026

According to one Labour politician, a Reform MP said the following about Makerfield candidate Rob Kenyon: Chatting to a loose lipped Reform MP today who tells me that they've given up on Makerfield. "An absolute sh*t candidate and no real understanding of how to tackle a by-election". — Mike Reader MP (@mike_reader) June 13, 2026 On the one hand, Mike Reader would have every reason to lie about this. On the other, Reform MPs would have every reason to call Kenyon a “sh*t candidate”, because he is. “No real understanding” What is it that makes Kenyon such a bad candidate? Firstly,…

Reform candidate Kenyon exposed as sexist on Question Time

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:9 June 2026

Reform UK’s MP candidate for Makerfield, Robert Kenyon, once self-proclaimed himself as a sexist, but now he is running for parliament he coincidentally won’t accept the label and insists: I’ve got nothing but respect for women… I’ve said things years ago that I wouldn’t say now. However, his complete refusal to apologise for comments that many women rightfully found deeply offensive exposed another issue with the Makerfield ‘hopeful’. Instead of showing an ounce of humility or reflecting on why people objected, he doubled down. That response only strengthened the perception that he places his own views and sense of certainty above…

Senedd candidate in Nazi salute photo row now Reform special adviser

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

Reform Senedd candidate Corey Edwards, who stepped down from the election after a photo emerged of him doing a Nazi salute, is now, apparently, the special adviser for the far-right party’s Welsh leader. Mere hours after Reform announced him as a candidate for Bridgend and Vale of Glamorgan, a photo of Edwards performing a Nazi salute (complete with a finger in place of a Hitler-style moustache) came to light. The picture was reportedly taken more than six years ago. Edwards ‘apologised’ publicly but also tried to play it down as a joke. He even attempted a feeble swipe at anti-Zionist protests. My…

MSM scrape barrel to attack Greens’ Makerfield candidate

  • Post author:

Yesterday, Skwawkbox predicted that the ‘mainstream’ media (MSM) and Israel lobby would struggle to find anything to use against new Green party Makerfield by-election candidate Sarah Wakefield. It wasn’t a compliment. But Wakefield’s apparent silence on important issues like Gaza means that the ‘MSM’ is, as predicted, scraping right through the bottom of the barrel. So far, it’s had to pick on the blandest things imaginable — like wanting fairer farming. Their narrative of the Green Party is as dull as it is revealing. MSM panic at “decolonising” pledges The Murdoch Times has dedicated a whole, quite lengthy article and two…

Reform is pretending its Makerfield candidate was Action Man

Reform UK’s candidate in the Makerfield by-election is one Robert Kenyon. So far, Kenyon has attracted a great deal of criticism for the things he’s said in the past and the things he’s saying right now. Kenyon isn’t the only one talking nonsense, however, with his party joining in too: He was a Lance Corporal in the Army Reserves. Stop trying to make it out as anything more than it is. He’s also a sexist and a perv. pic.twitter.com/O2Urc8Q0J2 — Reform Party UK Exposed (@reformexposed) May 26, 2026 Reform gets territorial As Reform Exposed notes above, Kenyon was a member of…

“Vote in hope” – Greens announce Sarah Wakefield as new Makerfield candidate

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

The Green Party has announced Manchester councillor Sarah Wakefield as its new candidate for the Makerfield by-election. The announcement comes after the withdrawal of Chris Kennedy from the contest. Wakefield launched her campaign by calling on voters: Don’t vote in anger, vote in hope. There’s plenty to be angry about outside of Makerfield. From the sabotage of his own party by departing MP Josh Simons and his group, to the continued red-Tory policies of Labour under Starmer, to the racism of the Reform candidate. Voters have every right to be livid. But Wakefield is right that Makerfield needs hope. So does…

Reform’s Makerfield candidate was a Remainer

Robert Kenyon, Reform’s candidate in the Makerfield by-election, is reported to have voted to remain in the European Union. This could be something of a problem too because Reform wouldn’t exist if not for the campaign to leave the EU. NEW: Reform UK's Makerfield candidate Robert Kenyon said in 2019 that he did not vote for Brexit "Anyone who thinks I love Trump, voted Brexit… is wrong… I woke up the day after Brexit shitting myself to what was voted for" [@thetimes] — Politics UK (@PolitlcsUK) May 26, 2026 Reform Remainiac As Skwawkbox reported for the Canary, Kenyon has links to known…
