Fierce and total solidarity shuts down Tommy Robinson in Oxford

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:19 June 2026

The Oxford Union handed a platform to some of the scummiest far-right bigots under the guise of free speech — including Tommy Robinson. But on the streets outside, a fierce and stunning display of community solidarity showed them that these people and their hatred have no space on the streets of Oxford. Tommy Robinson — A platform of pathetic hate The energy on the anti-fascists resistance brought the city centre to a standstill. Shops had closed in preparation for this, and there were dozens of police on the streets. Why? Because the Oxford Union handed a platform to some of the…

The Palestinian Football Association has put an end to circulating reports regarding the possibility of a match between the Palestine and Israel Under-15 national teams, emphasising that what has been reported in some media outlets is completely unfounded and does not reflect the reality on the ground. The Association said, in an official statement, that it had not received any notification or proposal from FIFA regarding the organisation of such a match, adding that the relevant authorities had confirmed that there had been no announcement or arrangements in this regard. The Palestinian denial was categorical, with the Association emphasising that its…

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:18 June 2026

The UK bought massive amounts of Israel’s military gear between 2023 and 2025 — the most intense years of the genocide. UN figures show a spike of 10,589 percent in Israeli imports with the British police and military being major recipients. Israel has been found, by the UN, to have committed genocide against Palestinians. Declassified UK reported: Figures from the UN Comtrade database show that UK imports from Israel of arms, ammunition and related parts increased from just £55,000 in 2023 to almost £5.9 million in 2025. That is equivalent to around a 10,589 percent rise during two years in which…

Watch: Israeli fascist Ben-Gvir — “We cannot stop demolishing homes in Lebanon”

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:18 June 2026

Israel’s fascist ‘security minister’ Itamar Ben-Gvir has said that no matter what is agreed between the US and Iran, Israel “cannot” stop demolishing civilian homes in Lebanon. This, supposedly, is because Israel “must” control the territory from which it has ethnically cleansed more than a million innocent Lebanese people: We cannot stop demolishing houses in southern Lebanon. We cannot stop. We cannot allow the residents of southern Lebanon to return. We must continue to control the territory even if we disagree with (US President Donald) Trump, we are an independent state. Ben-Gvir: We cannot stop destroying houses in southern Lebanon. We…

Indigenous people in Kenya reject attempts to re-start troubled carbon credit project

  • Post author:

A carbon credit project which Meta and Netflix have used stands accused of coercion of Indigenous people. Indigenous people in Northern Kenya have accused the controversial conservation organisation Northern Rangelands Trust of “tricks and dishonest dealings”. And they’ve denounced its attempt to revive its notorious and twice-suspended Northern Kenya Grassland Carbon Project. Northern Rangelands Trust is pushing Indigenous communities in the project area to sign agreements that it presents as a solution to the project’s crisis but could in fact further reduce community control over their ability to graze their livestock, and to manage their own lands. Maasai and Rendille people…

Labour MP boosts right-wing Green Party misinfo

  • Post author:

On 17 June, the right-wing news account GB Politics claimed the following: NEW: Green party-led Bristol city council has banned residents from flying the England flag during the World Cup because its “making migrants feel uncomfortable” As it turned out, this wasn’t true. But that didn’t stop a Labour MP from spreading the misinformation to his followers: This is silly and offensive. Israel has set up cranes in Gaza as platforms to murder civilians

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:18 June 2026

According to eyewitness reports in Gaza City, the Israeli occupation military has set up cranes around the city, each 100 feet tall. The IOF is using these as platforms to slaughter civilians. In tents, in cafes, in what remains of shelters. Gaza journalist Tamer Nahed posted his description to his X account: A very dangerous new nightmare we are living in Gaza City, and no one in the world is paying attention to it. Days ago, the Israeli army installed huge military cranes, each about 30 meters tall, on the eastern areas it controls. These cranes are equipped with machine guns…

Council admits guga hunt ‘not in full compliance’ with food safety laws

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:18 June 2026

Officials say they are aware the traditional guga hunt operates outside current food safety regulations. But they claim that enforcing the law is impractical. The guga hunt is the UK’s last legal seabird hunt. Every year, the “Men of Ness” travel to the remote island of Sula Sgeir to kill up to 2,000 flightless gannet chicks, which locals call guga. The birds are slaughtered and butchered on the island before being transported back to the Isle of Lewis where they are sold and consumed. Historically, the hunt provided an important source of food for isolated island communities. Today, however, it continues…

Lowe’s ‘Rape Gang Inquiry Report’ makes a mockery of the victims

  • Post author:

Content warning: this article contains discussion of child sexual abuse and exploitation. On 16 June, Rupert Lowe – leader of the extreme-right Restore Britain announced the publication of his ‘Rape Gang Inquiry Report’. Predictably, it ignored the basic methodological foundations necessary for such a study. Instead, it exploited victims’ narratives and deployed Islamophobic conjecture to arrive at a foregone conclusion, which Lowe posted to social media: Our inquiry report proves that without doubt there is an undeniable link between religion and the rape gangs. Islam. As a country, we need to find the courage to finally say so. Though Lowe used…

Starmer’s ‘child protection’ law is an assault on press freedoms

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:18 June 2026

Keir Starmer’s new ban on under-16s using social media — just as with the supposed ‘Online Safety Act’ (OSA) — does nothing to protect children. In fact, it will harm many and put others at risk as they try dangerous routes to bypass the ban. Furthermore, it will have an enormous chilling effect on meaningful journalism. It will also chill resistance to the authoritarian state he is building for fascist Reform to inherit. Starmer wages war on journalism How does the ban wage war on journalism? Because it is designed to make anonymity impossible and works hand in hand with Starmer’s…

Upholding Palestine Action ban risks stifling dissent, Quakers warn

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:18 June 2026

The Court of Appeal has ruled that the government’s decision to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist group was lawful. This overturns an earlier High Court judgment. But Quakers and others have warned that the ruling risks stifling dissent. They have long argued that the Terrorism Act, introduced in 2000, is overly broad and threatens civil liberties particularly where it extends to property damage, placing the UK outside international norms. Five senior judges on Monday 15 June backed the home secretary’s position on Palestine Action. This allows the ban to remain in force despite widespread criticism and a civil disobedience campaign…

Tunisia dump manager after World Cup loss to Sweden

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:18 June 2026

The decision by the Tunisian Football Federation to sack French manager Sabri Lamouchi during the 2026 World Cup was not merely a tactical move to get the team back on track. In addition, it brought to the fore one of the rarest occurrences linked to Tunisia in the history of the world’s most popular tournament. Over more than nine decades of World Cup competition, most national associations have preferred to stand by their managers until the end of the tournament, regardless of the results. They do this because they recognise the difficulty of effecting radical change in such a short space…

Clownish MP Jim Allister doubles down on racist cartoon

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:18 June 2026

Jim Allister, lead Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) cake-botherer and peddler of “legitimate concerns” nonsense, has made a fool of himself by doubling down on his decision to post racist AI slop. On 16 June, the MP for North Antrim put a TUV-branded cartoon on his Facebook page. The witless AI-generated garbage depicts a bus marked “Dublin to Northern Ireland” and features an overwhelmingly dark-skinned group of passengers. Several appear to be Muslim and are shown waving signs boasting of free stuff they are supposedly about to receive as they cross the border. Pittance passed off as fortune As the Law Centre…

Barrister in Ukrainians’ ‘Starmer arson’ trial says huge amount was covered up

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:18 June 2026

Senior criminal law barrister Dominic D’Souza acted for one of the Ukrainians accused — and acquitted this week — of setting fire to properties belonging to Keir Starmer. The defendants were allegedly ‘rent boys’ — a factor largely ignored by UK ‘mainstream’ media. And D’Souza says that he was astonished — his word was ‘pickled’ — by how much of what went on was ignored or even buried by prosecution and judge in the case. Two men were convicted in the case. D’Souza’s client Petro Pochynok was acquitted. But when D’Souza read journalist Crispin Flintoff’s X post about the BBC’s unmerited…

One killed in US ‘narco’ strike as Trump’s Latin America shadow war builds steam

  • Post author:

One person was killed and two injured in the latest ‘narco’ boat strike in the eastern Pacific on 17 June. While all eyes are on US-Iran peace talks, US president Donald Trump’s administration is still terrorising Latin America. The US has killed over 200 people in the Caribbean and Pacific under the guise of stopping ‘narco-terrorist’ boats. The US military’s southern command posted on X: On June 16, at the direction of #SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was…

The more scrutiny Andy Burnham faces, the less popular he gets

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:17 June 2026

The Makerfield by-election has got people around the country talking about Andy Burnham again. And a new poll has shown that, with increasing scrutiny, he’s become a lot less popular. We reckon that’s because he represents the same kind of fence-sitting, corporate politics that gave the UK Keir Starmer. Unsurprising popularity dive Voters tend to view most politicians unfavourably, overall. But Andy Burnham was a rare case before the by-election campaign. Because there were actually more people who viewed him favourably. That has quickly changed in recent weeks, though, with YouGov reporting that his: favourability has declined markedly over the past…

Watch: Labour MP asked to name a single Burnham policy — and fails

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:18 June 2026

Labour’s Manchester Rusholme MP Afzal Khan is on the campaign trail for Andy Burnham in the Makerfield by-election. Voters go to the polls tomorrow, 18 June 2026. The Canary asked him to name a policy that Burnham supports — and got a lot of waffle in return. Labour — U-Turnham? In fact, Khan seemed unable — or perhaps unwilling — to mention any policy that Burnham stands for. But he’s sure that Burnham “has views on the policies” and that “the policies will be there”. This quandary likely stems from the fact that any time Burnham has been associated with a…
