Human rights NGO Amnesty International says Israel is erasing everything Palestinian from the West Bank. The group warned that it is the Israeli state leading the ethnic cleansing — not rogue settlers. Israeli violence in the West Bank has accelerated alongside the Gaza genocide. Amnesty’s report is titled ‘Erasing anything Palestinian: Israel’s ethnic cleansing of West Bank Bedouin and herding communities‘. It can be read in full here. Among the major findings was that: Ethnic cleansing campaign is Israeli state-led, and state-sponsored, not driven by rogue settlers or so-called extremist ministers. The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and its European counterpart (EPATH) have issued a joint statement expressing their “deep concern” regarding NHS plans to suspend hormone prescriptions for trans under-18s in England. On 9 March, NHS England published a draft clinical policy outlining its plan for public consultation. In essence, it proposed that: MAF (masculinising and feminising) Hormones are not recommended to be available as a routine commissioning option through the NHS Children and Young People’s Gender Service. This represents a sharp break from the current clinical policy, which was itself updated in 2024 in a knee-jerk response to…

Mirror journalist asks why violence committed by white men never seems to matter

Islamophobia — On Good Morning Britain (GMB), journalist Kevin Maguire confronted the fact that violence committed by white males never seems to see the same discriminatory attacks against them as a group. In contrast, when any attack is perpetrated by a Black or Brown man, condemnation is made against entire communities. As a result, we have seen a growing number of racist white riots, whether that be in Southampton after the trial of Nowak’s killer or the thugs terrorising local residents in Belfast right now. With Farage stating Southampton was “just the beginning”, supporting far-right efforts to bring more violence to…

‘Big Ben Dan’ Day has been found guilty of ‘public nuisance’ at Southwark Crown Court after climbing the parliamentary tower in March 2025. Day’s 17-hour protest was against Israel’s Gaza genocide and against state-sanctioned police violence against peaceful protest. Big Ben Dan — “Serious disruption” The state claims Day caused a £67,000 public bill, some lost bus fares and “serious disruption”. Not as big as Israel’s genocide has caused to millions of innocent Palestinians and surely that’s the point of protest. But that’s the UK state’s priority as Keir Starmer wages war on anti-genocide speech and protest. Supporters chanted “Free Palestine”…

US oil exports are surging as Saudi and Russian exports are disrupted by US-led wars and sanctions — but, there is a big ‘but’ here, the true and permanent winner of Trump’s Iran war might be China’s clean-tech industry. Exports of Chinese-made solar cells hit 1.7bn units in March, a record high for a single month, the Financial Times reported. US defence secretary Pete Hegseth openly threatened Cuba during a visit to the colonial military base at Guantanamo Bay. Hegseth told a captive audience of American soldiers that Cuba had better not try and get long-range weapons. The US has been ramping up threats against the island state. Meanwhile, US officials have forced Colombia’s left-wing president Gustavo Petro not to meet New York mayor Zohran Mamdani. The Guardian reported on 10 June that Hegseth said: It would be unwise for the government of Cuba to try to procure or get access to the types of weapons that could reach this base…

Ealing could’ve had 14 more left-wing wins with Indy-Green collaboration

The Green Party did well in the 2026 local elections, especially in London. In Ealing, for example, it got five new councillors. But if it had worked together with local left-wing independents, the borough could have gained at least 14 extra progressive councillors, pulling significant power away from Labour. Instead, Labour kept control. Indy-Green collaboration could make a massive difference in Ealing In the local elections, the Green Party focused on the less diverse and more expensive Hanwell Broadway ward. All three of its candidates defeated Labour there. Ealing Community Independents (ECI) candidates, meanwhile, stood in poorer and more diverse wards,…

Two leading animal welfare organisations are calling on the new Scottish parliament to end the annual guga hunt on Sula Sgeir. They’ve published a new report stating that the hunt cannot be considered humane, despite a NatureScot licence condition that requires killing must be carried out humanely. This adds to the campaigning work of Protect the Wild, whose founder Rob Pownall ran for the Scottish parliament dressed as a gannet. Animal Welfare and the Guga Hunt comes out as NatureScot considers a fresh licence application for the 2026 hunt. The topic is also due to for consideration by the Scottish parliament…

Andrea Egan, general secretary of Unison, has written to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) to highlight the fact that workplaces across the country have already begun to withdraw their previous trans-inclusive policies. After multiple failed attempts, the EHRC laid its current draft code of practice before Parliament. The guidance is now undergoing a 40-day period of scrutiny, after which MPs can choose to accept or reject it. The draft code calls for service providers to exclude trans people from single-sex spaces reflecting their gender, and also often those of their sex assigned at birth. The government’s own impact assessment has…

Vape deposit scheme could recover £6.3m worth of lithium and copper annually

  • Post author:

Despite 2025’s disposable vape ban, 6.3m vapes and pods still get chucked away every week in the UK. This has prompted fresh calls for a deposit return scheme for vaping products. Disposable vapes are an example of a product that creates a lucrative market with no apparent thought for the environmental cost. Each unit includes plastic for the casing, copper wiring in the circuitry and lithium in the battery. While the ban on disposable vapes has helped to reduce the number purchased per week, with a 31% reduction, 6.3m vapes and pods are still being binned each week. Alongside this, reports…

On 11 June, Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley appeared on Sky News to discuss the Belfast ‘race-based pogroms,’ following a horrific stabbing attack days earlier. Far-right politicians and pundits, with the help of tech mogul Elon Musk, love nothing more than turning tragedy into a PR stunt. They whip up fear and hate across the UK towards Black and Brown people. Meanwhile, white supremacist thugs have taken to the streets of Belfast, setting fire to the homes and terrorising local residents. It is clear that the situation in Belfast has implications far beyond the city’s limits. When asked about the…

On the same day that the UK dealt with the aftermath of white riots targeting people of colour, Reform UK reinstated the councillor who suggested ‘melting Nigerians to fill potholes‘. A judge is expected to sentence four Palestine Action activists as ‘terrorists’ on 12 June, despite the activists not being convicted as such. Judge Jeremy Johnson has indicated he may add a ‘terrorist connection’ to the charges of Charlotte Head, Samuel Corner, Leona (Ellie) Kamio and Fatema Rajwani under section 69 of the Sentencing Act 2020. This is despite the jury convicting the Palestine Action four of criminal damage in their retrial. The conviction follows the four activists’ direct action to damage computers and drones, and spray red paint across the walls and floor of an Elbit Systems factory in Filton,…

Ahead of undergraduate open days at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) on 12 and 13 June, PETA has placed a new ad just a stone’s throw from the campus. It warns prospective students that researchers at the university are tormenting mice in cruel and useless sepsis experiments that consistently fail to lead to effective treatments for humans. The appeal depicts a dead mouse alongside the message: Septic Fail. Mice Suffer and Die in Sepsis Tests at QMUL – With No Human Benefits. PETA senior campaigns manager Kate Werner says: What QMUL’s tours fail to divulge to students is that on…
