Private water company leaves thousands dry amid record May heatwave

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

One privately-owned water company left thousands of people in south-east England dry and thirsty this week. This comes amid one of Britain’s hottest-ever May heatwaves. South East Water, which covers much of Kent, left over 8,000 people without any tap water. The company claimed that nearby reservoirs at Whitstable were at a “critical level” due to “extremely high demand”. The company’s six-figure CEO David Hinton stepped down from his position in early May over consistent failures, shortages and outages but will remain in-post to allow an orderly transition over the summer period. That and, presumably, to keep earning a slice of…

Reform racist Yusuf wants to ban Sikhs fulfilling their religion

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

Reform UK’s Zia Yusuf is more than a bit full of himself. He likes to style himself Reform’s “Shadow Home Secretary”. He’s not. He’s Reform’s home affairs spokesperson, God help us all. ‘Shadow’ refers to the home affairs spokesperson of the party with second-most MPs in the Commons. For the moment, that’s still the Tories. But many would say he’s full of something else, too. That proposition is reinforced by the fact that today, 29 May 2026, he has decided he needs to pander to his racist base even further. In this case, by banning Sikhs from carrying the kirpan, the ceremonial…

Trump’s American empire: US operations are firing up across the continent

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

President Donald Trump’s failing war in Iran is grabbing most of the headlines. But Latin America is still central to current US colonial ambitions. American shadow war operations are popping up left, right and centre as the US seeks to dominate. Trump’s 2025 national security strategy said as much. The US wants to ensure: the Western Hemisphere remains reasonably stable and well-governed enough to prevent and discourage mass migration to the United States. And that those pliable governments: cooperate with us against narco-terrorists, cartels, and other transnational criminal organizations. Trump and his cronies want: a Hemisphere that remains free of hostile…

Shabana Mahmood’s cruel policy to force torture victims to share rooms ruled unlawful

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

In a ruling handed down yesterday by the High Court, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood’s cruel policy to force victims of torture to share rooms with strangers has been deemed unlawful. Justifying this pretty damning ruling, the court judgement states that Mahmood’s: failures amount to a serious breach of the Defendant’s public law duties, rendering the impugned policy changes unlawful. These failures refer to the fact that Mahmood did not instruct any consultations before introducing such an impactful policy change and also gave little consideration for the impacts of this policy on victims of torture, trafficking and other serious violence. Moreover, she…

“No longer in denial” — Israeli settlements admit years of serial, filmed child rape

  • Post author:

A screenshot from the Kan 11 programme, which is only viewable on YouTube in Hebrew, and by using a VPN set to Israel. Israel’s long-running paedophilia scandal has exploded. A new documentary shown on Israeli TV has capped years of campaigning by victims and allies this week. Titled “No longer in denial: Gush Etzion admits to ritual abuse”, the Kan 11 ‘Zman Emet’ programme contained testimonies by victims living in illegal settlements that their leaders engaged in the gang-rape of children. The ‘leaders’ filmed the abuse and distributed it to their fellow paedophiles — and the local council has acknowledged the…

Epstein survivors fear reporting information about Andrew due to lack of faith in British police and media

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

Citing the lack of action taken by police authorities when Epstein was alive and the harassment seen in the British press, an American lawyer representing “multiple clients” has said these Epstein survivors will not speak to the police in the UK. Women who potentially have important information regarding disgraced paedo-prince Andrew Mountbatten Windsor appear to feel unsafe at the prospect of coming forward. This relatable fear stems from a lack of faith in how the British police and the UK mainstream media would handle the case. Moreover, Brad Edwards highlighted the impact of subsequent press intrusion seen against a woman he…

Watch: Australia’s parliament horrified that Oz gave Israel ‘nul points’ in Eurovision

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

Failure to vote for Israel in the Eurovision song contest is antisemitic — according to Australia’s Senate. Ozzie senators are apparently untroubled by Israel’s blatant rigging of public and panel votes. But they are deeply alarmed at the fact that Australia’s official judges dared to give the genocidal colony ‘nul points’. So much so that they want an investigation into the non-scandal: https://www.thecanary.co/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/io5Z1lc5ByM6AqC61.mp4 Eurovision — colonial nonsense Israel, of course, is not in Europe. Neither is Australia, which just goes to show what a colonial nonsense the whole thing is. Audiences are waking up to it, apparently, with viewer numbers collapsing and several…

Rupert Lowe’s reach on X eclipses that of Nigel Farage — and all thanks go to Elon Musk

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

Research from the Financial Times indicates that Rupert Lowe — founder of the extreme-right Restore Britain — has more reach on social media platform X than Reform’s Nigel Farage. In large part, Lowe owes his success to billionaire Elon Musk, who bought out Twitter in 2022 (and then had a highly public fallout with Farage in 2025). Since launching Restore back in February, ten of Lowe’s X posts have received over 10-million views. Meanwhile, whilst Farage has over three times Lowe’s follower count, none of his posts have reached a similar mark. Whilst Restore currently consists of — in Farage’s words —…

Board of Peace is just the Trump administration — expert

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

The “Board of Peace” is a fiction, according to the Quincy Institute’s Khaled Elgindi. His comments come following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement that Israel intends to control 70% of the Gaza Strip. In an interview with Al Jazeera, Elgindi said that the multilateral body of nations created to oversee Trump’s peace plan has no real authority. The Board of Peace is a fiction. It is a sort of multilateral; it has the appearance of multilateralism, but is really just the Trump administration that is running the show behind the scenes According to Elgindi, even the highly one-sided agreement that…

Jeffrey Sachs: ‘Britain is the number one warmonger of all’ and driving escalation with Russia

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

Commentator Jeffrey Sachs said in an interview on Wednesday that he would advise Britain to focus on keeping the National Health Service (NHS) from collapsing rather than going to war with Russia. Sachs added that Britain is the ‘number one warmonger’ driving dangerous escalation between Ukraine and Russia. He was pointing to Britain’s role in arming Ukraine and providing it with intelligence. He said: Britain, of course, is the number one warmonger of all. Britain still lives in the dreamland of the British Empire. And it wants to escalate at all times. Sachs was condemning the escalation by Ukraine, which struck…

TotalEnergies reported to financial regulators over risks of greenwashing

  • Post author:

Environmental groups have urged the French financial regulator to investigate TotalEnergies over concerns that it may have misled investors. They are also calling on the European financial regulator to focus on high-emitting company greenwashing issues. This comes as the French oil and gas giant’s net profit soared 51% in the first quarter of 2026, compared with the same period in 2025, amid disruption in oil markets linked to the war in Iran. On the eve of the company’s annual general meeting, ClientEarth, Les Amis de la Terre (Friends of the Earth France), and Notre Affaire à Tous have sent letters to…

Amazon UK must urgently ban sale of donkey skin products says charity

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

Over six million donkeys are slaughtered each year to produce ejiao. It’s a gelatine used in supplements, food and cosmetics. And it’s sold globally, including via major online retailers. Working donkey and horse charity Brooke carried out an investigation. It found that while Amazon UK doesn’t sell these products directly, they remain available through third-party sellers on its marketplace. Donkeys are vital to millions of people, supporting livelihoods, education and access to essentials in some of the world’s poorest communities. The donkey skin trade is causing extreme suffering worldwide, including violent capture, long transportation without food or water, and brutal slaughter…

Hindutva’s red carpet to US tech is an own goal

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau recently said the quiet part out loud, stating that the US will not let India develop like China. Landau’s remarks are honest about what the USA sees India as: a periphery country, needed to extract profits from by exploiting its low wages, decimating its environment, and plundering its resources. This is similar to how Britain, in 1947, used the sterling balances negotiations to restrict India’s industrial development. Though Britain owed India over £1 billion from World War II, Whitehall froze these funds. Britain leveraged “informational asymmetries while Indian sovereignties were in flux,” which ensured…

A £10 pint could be closer than you think – here’s why

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

Despite rising pint prices, pubs may be making just pennies in profit from every pound spent. And so, like everywhere else, prices at the pub are rising. Here’s a breakdown of the numbers. Pint profits plunge New research suggests that for every £1 spent on a pint in 2026, the typical drinks-focussed pub could make just 3p in profit. This is down almost half from last year. To understand where money spent at the pub actually goes, experts from money.co.uk analysed cost data from the British Beer and Pub Association. They modelled how operating expenses have shifted year-on-year, using growth trends,…

Property Investment Guide. What Actually Matters Before You Buy

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

Property investment still attracts people for one simple reason: bricks feel more real than numbers on a screen. Stocks jump up and down every hour. Crypto trends change before lunch. An apartment building? You can walk around it, touch the walls, hear the traffic outside. In 2026, buyers are paying closer attention to location quality, infrastructure, and developer reputation instead of chasing flashy promises. This guide looks at what first-time and mid-level investors often miss — and what deserves real attention before money changes hands. Why Buyers Started Looking Beyond “Cheap Deals” A few years ago, many investors hunted for the…

DWP urged to guarantee lifetime disability benefits for people with terminal illness

  • Post author:
  • Post last modified:8 June 2026

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) shouldn’t force people living with terminal illness and progressive, life-limiting conditions to undergo stressful, costly and unnecessary disability benefit reassessments. So says a coalition of more than 30 organisations, led by end-of-life charity Marie Curie, in an open letter to DWP minister Stephen Timms. Sent on 28 May to coincide with the Call for Evidence deadline for the Timms Review of Personal Independence Payments, the open letter describes the reform as a “clear and compassionate” way to protect people living with terminal illness and those with progressive life-limiting conditions. DWP has a chance to…

‘Top’ French media pundits can’t name three living Chinese people

Prosecutor denies case against Trump rape accuser being pursued

  • Post author:

Content warning: this article features graphic discussion of rape and sexual abuse.  A US federal prosecutor has denied opening a case against a woman who claims Donald Trump raped her. But a source had told the legacy press that such a case is being pursued. It would be the latest of many sexual abuse scandals centering on the US president. Writer E. Jean Carroll accused Trump of “raping her in the mid-1990s”. Trump and Carroll have already contested two cases heard in court. Carrol is a former columnist for Elle Magazine. CBC reported: The top federal prosecutor in Chicago denied on…

Milburn report is contradicted by what the DWP is doing

Yesterday saw the release of the interim report of the Milburn Review into youth unemployment. However, it completely contradicts everything the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is already doing to make life harder for unemployed and disabled young people. A media circus instead of support The long-awaited report was supposed to delve into why so many young people are unemployed. However, that was never going to be the whole story when it was run by Alan Milburn. Once you got past the DWP-created media circus, the report was Milburn’s attempt to prove his foregone conclusion that young people were faking…
